The Great Pyramid Of Giza - 859 Words
The Great Pyramid of Giza, is one of the oldest and sole surviving wonders of the Ancient World, has attracted the interest of many people such as tourists, philosophers, and travelers for hundreds of years. The pyramids interest has centered on the question of whether the ancient Egyptian people created and or possessed certain mathematical concepts and rules in the pyramids for the proportions and measurements. The Great Pyramidââ¬â¢s elevation encodes three of the most important constants in created mathematics which are: Ãâ¬, à ¦, and e. The slope angle of 51à °51ââ¬â¢ also 51.85à ° in decimal form, comes from measurements taken off the remaining casing stones. There is also a debate as to the geometry used in the design of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. There is evidence, however, that the design of the pyramid may use these foundations of mathematics and geometry. Here is more evidence of how the design of the pyramid may embody these foundations of mathematics and geometry: -Phi, the Golden Ratio that appears throughout nature. -Pi, the circumference of a circle in relation to its diameter. -The Pythagorean Theorem ââ¬â Credited to mathematician Pythagoras (about 570 ââ¬â 495 BC), which is also expressed as aà ² + bà ² = cà ². Phi is the only number which has the mathematical property of its square being one more than itself: à ¦ + 1 = à ¦Ã ²or 1.618â⬠¦ + 1 = 2.618â⬠¦ By applying the above Pythagorean equation to this, we can construct a right triangle, of sides a, b and c, or in this case aShow MoreRelatedThe Great Pyramid Of Giza930 Words à |à 4 PagesGiza, an area located southwest of what is now known as Cairo, is home to one of the most astonishing and mysterious feats of architecture ever assembled, The Great Pyramid. Social networking Free Essays
Social networking is the first topic that was presented into my brain when I heard the words, ââ¬Å"modern American. â⬠It appeals to me more than any other topic because of the fact that I am very involved in social networking. Facebook, Twitter, and even Tumblr are almost constant aspects of my life. We will write a custom essay sample on Social networking or any similar topic only for you Order Now Social networking may have not been around since the early beginnings of America, but in the past ten years, it has advanced tremendously. From the early networks such as Myspace and MyYearbook to todayââ¬â¢s Facebook and Twitter, people from all around America have been able to interact with each other through the simple click of a mouse. It enables most, if not all, Americans to communicate and acquire important information faster. Although social networking has begun to distract many teenagers from finishing their school homework faster and more efficiently, I believe social networking has had a very positive impact on America. It allows us to reconnect with old friends, communicate with our current ones, and in some cases, meet new family members. There has been speculations about whether or not social networking sites are safe for Americans. However, most, if not all, sites have advanced privacy settings that enable you to filter who receives the information you submit to the Internet. Overall, most social networks have made a positive impact on American society. Many movies and books have been inspired by social networking sites, the most common being Facebook. Also, most social networking sites are talked about on news channels. Music is another topic that defines modern America. This topic appeals to me in more ways than one. To make a very long story short, music may as well rule my life. During the school day, I am either singing in my choir class or listening to my iTunes. It is truly amazing how you can have nothing in common with a person until you figure out their taste in music. If it is in fact the same, it can unite two very different people. It has no racial preference or age limit. Listening to one simple song can completely turn a personââ¬â¢s entire day around. Music has appeared everywhere in Americaââ¬â¢s history. Genres such as hip-hop, jazz, country, rap, and techno have been derived from the different cultures that have streamed into the United States. Music has been streaming into the ears of Americans since the beginning of Americaââ¬â¢s creation. Throughout the history of America, music has remained the same as everything else in our country was either being destroyed or being re-built. Although it has evolved and different genres have been formed, it has generally remained constant. Music has always brought people together, even in the hardest of times. This topic appears everywhere in literature and media. Many famous performers have had movies dedicated to their lives and books written about their personal journeys. Some television shows and channels are dedicated to the simple art of broadcasting music and anything related to music. Fashion is another great topic I would be very interested in researching for this project. I have always been interested in all types of clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc. Since the beginning of America, fashion has evolved tremendously. The Industrial Revolution brought in a huge growth in the fashion industry. As a result of this economic boom, factories from around America could make different types of fashion items more efficiently and cheaply. At first, only more wealthy families could afford fashion items. However, when America saw an end to the Great Depression, and people had more money, the fashion industry became more accessible to the less wealthy. In modern day America, most citizens are concerned with whether or not they ââ¬Å"fit in. â⬠This is more often associated with modern teenagers, but some adults fit into this category also. With fashion styles and trends constantly changing, some Americans feel the need to purchase clothes that fit those trends. Even many careers revolve around the fashion industry. Also, careers not directly involved with fashion benefit from the industry. Consequently, not only do modern Americans want to wear the clothes that are considered fashionable, some revolve their careers around it. With media and literature, there are a lot of movies and books that center around fashion. News networks and most newspapers send journalists to attend fashion week so they can write stories about the week dedicated to fashion. There are also magazines, television shows, and music about fashion and the fashion industry. In Social Networking Sites ââ¬â A New Era of 21st Century, Donde, Chopade and Ranjith conduct a conclusion on page 73 of their academic research taken from teenagers of both sexes. They Conclude that the majority of people ages 18 and older have social networking accounts, but also people under the age of 18 also have profiles. They determine that social media sites help reduce stress and provide a freedom of expression. No matter how old or young the users are it provides them with a voice. Social networking has strong influences on society and promotes more positives than negatives, the first reason being global communication. The new age of social networking promotes friendship. Meaning you can talk to a random person in a completely different country. It seems unreal that you can have a relationship with a person half way across the planet where your paths may have never crossed before. Secondly, social media promotes social awareness. Ever since the computer became affordable to the average person the change started to take place. But ever since social media became popular, everyone has a voice. For a quick example, in the spring of 2012, a Kony 2012 video went viral. It was posted on a Monday and by Wednesday over 30 million hits. It had to do with prosecuting a man in Africa who was a war criminal, raping women and stealing boys for his army. Thirdly, social media is very good for spreading information. It makes it very easy to contribute to a fundraiser. When dealing with social media a group can be made and easily joined. Since there is so many people on ocial media sites the can grow rapidly. Like a fundraiser, reunions and staying in touch with old friends is simple as well. Itââ¬â¢s as easy as remembering an old friends name then clicking the add friend button. Lastly, the greatest positive to social networking is how convenient and efficient it has become. With the development of internet access on cell phones, itââ¬â¢s now as easy as making a quick phone call as it is to check your social media account. The only negative to this current fad is that it can get distracting while trying to focus on something more important. But none the less has social media connected the whole world and created a voice out of every person. Works Cited Donde, Deepa S. , Prof. , Nepha Chopade, Prof. , and Ranjith P. Social Networking offers a variety of ways people communicate with each other. In addition, these sites can pose major threats to individuals through the privacy settings within each of these sites. We will write a custom essay sample on Social Networking or any similar topic only for you Order Now Today in our lives social networking can impact our lives in many different ways. Nowadays, social networking has been taking a big part in our lives especially through the existence of gadgets that help us access programs such as; Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and much more. Did you know that fifty-four percent of companies prohibit the use of social networking, but fifty-seven percent of employees admit to using social networks during the work time for personal use? And twenty percent of all divorce cases are directly caused by social media. Complaints about inappropriate conversations, or just plain jealousy between couples, end a marriage that could have blossomed into a family tree. People who live in the same household canââ¬â¢t even talk to each other anymore. Some parents are becoming adapted into the lifestyle of having to ââ¬Å"postâ⬠something on their childââ¬â¢s social networking page advising the child to come to the kitchen for supper. It seems as though that a person has lost the effectiveness towards their own verbal communication skills. The question that many people around the world ask is: ââ¬Å"Does social networking affect our lives? â⬠Social networking has risen during the past few years as people tend to find social networks more familiar and relying on this with their communication styles. Social networking first began to develop in 1994 where the first website Geocities was formed so that users are allowed the capability to develop their own websites. Since then I believe that social networking websites such as Facebook and MySpace have made users communicate in the way of nonverbal communication where when they communicate verbally they tend to lack on how to communicate with others properly. I believe that social networking makes people act differently since they are allowed to pretend on social networking that they are someone they are not. By this, it can lead to bullying and bullying can lead to stress and depression. Also the issue of cyber bullying has risen in the past couple of years as the popularity of social networking begins to increase and users tend to be harassed through social media on many different negative concepts. First of all, letââ¬â¢s talk about social networking in general. I think every minute someone is logged on, the further they are becoming unaware of the world. They tend to become addicted to the websites after being logged on for a while. Social networking websites make children and adults incapable of adapting in their own daily routine. I remember the days when you wanted to impress that special someone, so you got a new haircut. You wanted to make a new friend so you approached them and started a pleasant conversation. In society today you write something funny on Twitter or update your profile picture on Facebook to really seal the deal. Even in our professional life, cyber socializing has evolved to such an extent that posting special pictures online can get you in trouble with your boss. Now businesses even take advantage of social media by tweeting about products and events. Who can draw the line between your professional and social life anymore? Society has grown dependent on reciprocal communication not only for social interacting but defining oneââ¬â¢s social identity. We have reality and the cyber world consisting of social networks like Facebook, Twitter and much more. There are obvious reasons why we get a social network account such as it is much easier to keep in contact with family members, reconnect with old friends or to promote businesses. They can also simply be good fun! Spying on your crush, stalking your favorite celebrities on Twitter so you feel a part of their world or even checking up on an enemy to make sure there life may just be as pathetic as yours. When one world disappoints us, we tend to shift to the other. I know people that are the most quiet, shy and uninteresting person in real life, but place them in front of a computer and they are hilariously witty, which gives introverted individuals a chance to express themselves. Gaining a new follower, friend request, comment or even your pictures being reposted can really boost your confidence and make you feel wanted thus curing the loneliness effect. However, these websites can also have the complete opposite effect. The use of social networking sites has both positive and negative consequences. It is amazing how someone can find a long-lost friend through a social networking site, where they can reconnect. In a society where people have become quite mobile and family and friends are often separated, it is convenient to keep in touch through technology. However, in some cases people tend to not look too far with problems associated with social networking sites. There is a debate on where internet addictions are real. To me it appears to be a real problem with, which some people have a difficult time grasping the concept. Some believe that social networking websites contributed to cheating on a significant other, which often could lead to divorce. People have been fired from their jobs or put under pressure because they use these social networking sites at work or because something is posted on a site that undermined the personââ¬â¢s professional standing. Although divorce and loss of employment are serious issues, perhaps they are not as common as other problems that have the potential to stem from social networking sites. Some websites have shown that people display their narcissistic traits online (Buffardi Campbell, 2008). I often tend to wonder whether people use these sites to display their popularity to the world rather than use them as a vehicle to develop meaningful relationships. Social networking websites allow you to post and share personal information. With these sites you can publish personal data, favorite songs and movies, photos and events in your life. The problem with sharing personal evidence is it can put harm on you. Some people do not know what the right information and the wrong information to put on their social networking sites, and decide upon putting all of their information to the world. Criminals and attackers look for highly personal information. Based on the details of your life that you share, they may be able to guess your passwords and end up impersonating you online to steal your identity. To help in identity theft do not post personal details such as your birth date, home address and identification numbers. Some of the great things about social networking are the ability to quickly and easily interact with other people. The problem is these websites make it easy for attackers to impersonate people you trust. Only accept as friends or contacts people you know. If you blindly accept any request to join your network, then you really have no privacy protection. Criminals are using your trust of others to attack you. So take into consideration for the future that if a friendââ¬â¢s request seems odd, check to see if it really is your friend that is talking to you and not a criminal that has taken over their account. When in doubt, always call your friend on their phone to make sure. In addition to the information you share organizations hiring new employees or universities reviewing student applications often do background checks on popular social networking sites such as Facebook. To protect your future outlook do not post any embarrassing information or photos of yourself. If it is something you would not want your boss or mother to see, then do not post it at all. Most social networking sites such as Facebook offer privacy controls. These are settings that you can configure to determine who can and cannot access information on your social networking page. The outcome is to give you the ability to publish private information, and then share that information with only specific people. The problem with most privacy controls is they are complex. You may think your information is protected, but you may be surprised to learn that others can access it, such as Friends of Friends. Also privacy controls may not work as you expect so in some cases people who are not your friends or even third party applications can still access your information. Finally even once you figure out the privacy options they can change. The best way to protect yourself is to limit the amount of personal information you post. It is best to assume any information you do post will eventually become public, regardless of the privacy controls used. If you do not want your boss, coworkers or family members to find out you probably should not post it to your social networking site. It can be exhilarating, at least at first, to connect with long-lost friends, says network science expert Steven Strogatz, PhD, a professor of applied mathematics at Cornell University. But the downside, he worries, is growing confusion between our weak ties such as people who might be useful in referring us to a good dentist or helping us find a job. The distinction between genuine friends and acquaintances is becoming blurred. Users are spending time maintaining relationships with people they may not even know face to face. In life it does take a certain amount of time to fully experience complex social emotions, says the lead author, cognitive neuroscientist Mary Helen Immordino-Yang. Rapid intake of certain information, especially in younger developing brains could have consequences on our morality on how we develop ourselves when we are younger. It could also be a whole new source of unhappiness, says Strogatz. On Twitter for example the conversations never stop. You start to feel that if youââ¬â¢re not involved in a conversation, youââ¬â¢re missing out. Some people may wonder why we cannot go back to the old days where we connect over a cup of coffee. Social networking has changed the society today for the good and for the bad. We need to come to the conclusion on whether we will allow this to affect our lives for the long term affect. Everything has positive and negative effects. We should become aware of the harmful effects and use these websites accordingly. It includes social websites such as facebook and twitter. I believe that social networking is pretty useful in our daily lives. Nowadays, people prefer using some social networking websites to communicate with each other since itââ¬â¢s more effective and much easier. For example, if someone is in a foreign country and wanted to communicate with his/her friends and family, that person would use facebook or twitter to chat or even webcam with them. If we rely only on television for world news, then we wouldnââ¬â¢t catch up and our knowledge about that news would be limited. Like television, social networking provides news about everything around us, but the only difference is that social networking allows the person to control and organize the news. Letââ¬â¢s say that a new invention was explored and you didnââ¬â¢t have time or missed it when it aired on the television, you can simply go to a certain social networking website and search for that invention or easily ask your friends about it online. Social networking is an effective way to make new friends. Since a lot of people rely on social networking, each user of a certain website gains a friend or two occasionally. For example, making new friends on Facebook is as easy as a click. By that, people can improve their social skills effectively. Some people might argue that in order to use social networking, you should use laptops or mobile devices which costs money and uses a lot of electricity. To an extent, itââ¬â¢s true that using social networking is costly for some people, but itââ¬â¢s worth every penny because of its various advantages stated earlier. Social networking, in my opinion, is an essential addition to most people around the world since it provides quick and easy communication between others, it allows people to access and acknowledge world news instantly, and itââ¬â¢s effective for making new friends. I advise people who donââ¬â¢t have an account on any social networking websites to make one and make use of all its advantages! How to cite Social Networking, Papers

Should Human Cloning Be Permitted Essays - Cloning,
Should Human Cloning Be Permitted? Should Human Cloning Be Permitted? For years, part of the American public, and humans in general, have been fascinated with the possibility of creating human life by other than natural means. There are many that strongly disagree with the idea of human cloning. It certainly wasn't surprising when they were able to clone a sheep or a pig, and will not be surprising if someday scientists will be able to clone a human being. Should cloning for human benefits or even human cloning itself be allowed in society today? That is a question we must ask ourselves. On one side of the issue are those who believe that human cloning should be permitted. One thing that shows this is what human cloning research may bring. Those who opposed to a ban believe that human cloning research could bring substantial benefits, including the development of new treatments for cystic fibrosis, other diseases and the ability to create an animal with normal compatible organs for transplant. (1.Should Congress Prohi bit All Human Cloning Experimentation? Pg. 34). From my opinion, I believe that human cloning is just a huge step towards negativism in human lives, rather than simply being the next step in fertility technology. There might be a possibility that human cloning research may result in the discovery of a cure for diseases and the growing of human organs, but the disadvantages are that many years as well as money may be need it. Also several experts told the committee that cloning might be the only chance for many infertile couples to have their own genetically related children. (2.Gorman, Pg. 66) For what I see these cases are rarely seen, and the little amount of couples that suffer of infertility are more likely to adopt a child. Infertility is not the cause. This is not the main reason why scientists are coming up with the idea of human cloning. What I believe is that scientists are just making propaganda in order to make the public to get on their side. Another reason is, what could happen if cloning is banned? What about consequences of banning a technology? Death, disease, disability, indignity, on happiness, and blighted life's that would result from imposing limits on cloning discoveries and advances. (3.Bailey, Pg. 66) What might possibly happen if cloning is banned, scientist's as well as experts believe that efforts to ban cloning could drastically stop the creation of new medicines that would help millions of people? Cloning might be a discovery for scientists to duplicate human lives. However, I certainly don't believe that this discovery would go further than saving lives, simply for the cost and waste of time. Furthermore, President Clinton took two swift steps: he called for moratorium on the use of federal funds for human cloning research and he asked his national bio-ethics advisory commission to let him know within 90 days whether the new technology should be even more tightly controlled. (4.Gorman, Pg. 66) In my opinion, I state that, no matter who pays for it or for what reason is done, cloning should be made a criminal offense in the U.S. The President does not have the right to spend federal funds in a research that most likely would be denied by congress; in addition it is also a waste of time and money. Cloning would not be cheap. More likely, the cost of genetic treatments will increase substantially, and the rich will be the only ones to take advantage of the new medical treatment. How to Say ââ¬ÅGood Morningââ¬Â in Japanese + 9 Other Greetings
How to Say ââ¬Å"Good Morningâ⬠in Japanese + 9 Other Greetings SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips If you're heading to Japan or thinking of studying Japanese, youââ¬â¢ll definitely want a firm grasp of the basic greetings and phrases. Whatââ¬â¢s "good morning" in Japanese? What's "good afternoon" in Japanese? In this article, I will teach you 10 common Japanese greetings, from how to say good morning in Japanese to how to introduce yourself properly. Iââ¬â¢ll then give you my top tips for using these greetings both appropriately and effectively. 10 Common Japanese Greetings and How to Use Them The Japanese language uses different greetings depending on the time of day (as English does) and the situation (such as whether the person youââ¬â¢re greeting is a close friend or a superior at work). Letââ¬â¢s take a look at the most common Japanese phrases and how to use them. #1: Good Morning = OhayÃ
㠊㠯ãâËã â / OhayÃ
Gozaimasu 㠊㠯ãâËã â ã âã â"ã â㠾ã ⢠Itââ¬â¢s essential to know how to say good morning in Japanese. There are two basic ways to say this greeting, depending on the level of formality youââ¬â¢re using (and are expected to use). The first way to say good morning is ohayÃ
㠊㠯ãâËã â (pronounced a lot like the state Ohio). This is the casual form, which you'd mainly use with close friends and family members. The second way to say good morning in Japanese is ohayÃ
gozaimasu 㠊㠯ãâËã â ã âã â"ã â㠾ã â¢. This is a more formal version. Gozaimasu is a common suffix in Japanese used to indicate a high degree of politeness and respect. Since this form is more polite, youââ¬â¢ll often hear it in Japan in places such as schools, stores, workplaces, etc. Pronunciation OhayÃ
sounds very similar to the US state Ohio (oh-high-yoh). The only big difference is that you enunciate the "y" sound a little more strongly and hold the final "o" sound out longer (thatââ¬â¢s why thereââ¬â¢s a line above the letter). Gozaimasu is pronounced goh-zigh-moss. Usage While most people use this greeting in the morning (no surprise there!), itââ¬â¢s not rare to hear ohayÃ
gozaimasu or ohayÃ
in the afternoon, too, especially if itââ¬â¢s the first time youââ¬â¢re seeing someone that day (such as if your work day starts at 1 pm). Itââ¬â¢s common to say ohayÃ
gozaimasu while bowing (formal) or giving a nod and a smile (less formal). Typically written in the hiragana alphabet as 㠊㠯ãâËã â (ohayÃ
) or 㠊㠯ãâËã â ã âã â"ã â㠾ã ⢠(ohayÃ
gozaimasu). #2: Good Afternoon / Hello = Konnichiwa ã âãââ㠫㠡ã ¯ This famous Japanese greeting is well known in the English-speaking world (though weââ¬â¢ve actually butchered the pronunciation a bit!). Konnichiwa ã âãââ㠫㠡ã ¯ means good afternoon in Japanese- or, more generally, hello- and is typically used from late morning to late afternoon. Pronunciation The pronunciation of konnichiwa is kohn-nee-chee-wah. Make sure to hold out the "n" sound in the middle of the word (thatââ¬â¢s why there are two of them). It'll probably feel a bit weird doing this if youââ¬â¢re not used to Japanese sounds, but trust me when I say itââ¬â¢ll make you sound much more like a native speaker in the end! Usage Unlike the difference between ohayÃ
and ohayÃ
gozaimasu, you may say konnichiwa with people you either know or donââ¬â¢t know equally. Like ohayÃ
gozaimasu, itââ¬â¢s common to say konnichiwa while bowing (formal) or giving a head nod and a smile (less formal). Typically written in the hiragana alphabet as ã âãââ㠫㠡ã ¯, though it may also be written in kanji as ä »Å æâ" ¥Ã£ ¯. This second spelling can be confusing, however, as it also means ã ãââ¡Ã£ â ã ¯ (kyÃ
wa), or "as for today." When it starts to get dark like this, konnichiwa just won't cut it. #3: Good Evening = Konbanwa / Kombanwa ã âãââ㠰ãââã ¯ Making our way to the end of the day now! Konbanwa (or kombanwa) ã âãââ㠰ãââã ¯, meaning good evening, is primarily used- you guessed it- in the evening and at night. Thereââ¬â¢s no exact time you must begin using this phrase instead of konnichiwa. In general, though, once it starts to get dark out, this is the greeting to use. Pronunciation The pronunciation of konbanwa is kohn-bahn-wah; however, note that the "n" sounds here are a little more nasal-sounding than they would be in English. This is why youââ¬â¢ll sometimes see the first "n" in konbanwa written as an "m" (kombanwa). Pronouncing this first "n" more like an "m" will ultimately help you sound more like a native Japanese speaker. As for the second "n," think of it as if you're saying the "ng" sound, but without the final "g." Usage Unlike the difference between ohayÃ
and ohayÃ
gozaimasu, you may say konbanwa with people you either know or donââ¬â¢t know equally. Itââ¬â¢s common to say konbanwa while bowing (formal) or giving a head nod and a smile (less formal). Typically written in the hiragana alphabet as ã âãââ㠰ãââã ¯, though it may also be written in kanji as ä »Å æ⢠©Ã£ ¯. #4: Good Night = Oyasuminasai ã Šãââã â¢Ã£ ¿Ã£ ªÃ£ â¢Ã£ â Oyasuminasai ã Šãââã â¢Ã£ ¿Ã£ ªÃ£ â¢Ã£ â is used the same way its English equivalent, "good night," is used. In Japan, it's customary to say this phrase when preparing to go to bed, or when about to head home after a night out with friends and/or coworkers. Pronunciation Oyasuminasai is pronounced oh-yah-soo-mee-nah-sigh. Usage You may use the casual form oyasumi ã Šãââã â¢Ã£ ¿ when saying good night to a family member or close friend. Can be written in all hiragana as ã Šãââã â¢Ã£ ¿Ã£ ªÃ£ â¢Ã£ â, or with kanji as ã Šä ¼â㠿㠪ã â¢Ã£ â (ä ¼âã ¿ means "rest"). The proper way to introduce yourself in English ... to the man who killed your father. (oxygeon/Flickr) #5: How Do You Do? = Hajimemashite 㠯ã Ëãâ 㠾ã â"ã ¦ Hajimemashite 㠯ã Ëãâ 㠾ã â"ã ¦ should only be used when meeting someone for the first time. It is similar to the English greeting "How do you do?" though some might translate it as "Nice to meet you" or "Pleased to meet you." Pronunciation This word is pretty much pronounced how itââ¬â¢s spelled: ha-jee-meh-mosh-teh. Notice how you donââ¬â¢t overly enunciate the "i" after the "sh" sound. Usage This phrase is generally the first thing you say to someone new, followed by your name and then another common phrase: dÃ
zo yoroshiku or yoroshiku onegaishimasu (see below for more on this greeting), which is typically translated as "Nice to meet you." Usually written in hiragana as 㠯ã Ëãâ 㠾ã â"ã ¦, though you may also write it with kanji as Ã¥Ë Ã£â 㠾ã â"ã ¦ (Ã¥Ë means "for the first time"). #6: Nice to Meet You / Thank You = Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu ãâËãâ ã â"ã ã Šé ¡Ëã âã â"㠾ã ⢠Yoroshiku onegaishimasu ãâËãâ ã â"ã ã Šé ¡Ëã âã â"㠾ã ⢠is a somewhat complicated greeting, as there are many different ways to use and say it. As a result, it doesnââ¬â¢t translate easily into English. One translation of yoroshiku onegaishimasu is "Nice to meet you" or "Please treat me well" if you say it when meeting someone new. That said, it can also mean "Please and thank you" or "Thank you in advance" if you are instead using it to ask someone for a favor. Other translations of this phrase include "Thank you for understanding" or "I am indebted to you" (if someone is doing or will be doing something to help or benefit you in some way). In terms of formality, there are multiple ways to say yoroshiku onegaishimasu in Japanese. Here are the different versions of this phrase, from most formal to least formal: DÃ
zo yoroshiku onegaishimasu 㠩ã â ã žãâËãâ ã â"ã ã Šé ¡Ëã âã â"㠾ã ⢠(more formal) Yoroshiku onegaishimasu ãâËãâ ã â"ã ã Šé ¡Ëã âã â"㠾ã ⢠(formal) DÃ
zo yoroshiku 㠩ã â ã žãâËãâ ã â"ã (less formal) Yoroshiku ãâËãâ ã â"ã (casual) Pronunciation DÃ
zo is pronounced doh-zoh. Make sure to extend the first "oh" sound a bit (you can see it has the line above it to indicate this). Yoroshiku is also pronounced pretty simply: yoh-roh-shee-koo. Note that the "r" sound in Japanese is very different from the English "r." Itââ¬â¢s a lot more like a mix between an "r," "l," and "d" (similar to how North Americans pronounce the "d" sound in "ladder" or the "t" sound in "better"). Onegaishimasu is pronounced oh-neh-guy-shee-moss. Note that you donââ¬â¢t need to overly enunciate the final "u" sound. Usage This is a go-to phrase for Japanese people, as it fits many kinds of situations. It is a polite (and expected) way to thank someone in advance and to address someone you have just met ("Nice to meet you"). Itââ¬â¢s common to say this phrase while bowing (formal) or offering a head nod and a smile (less formal), especially when meeting someone for the first time. "Long time, no see," said the girl who had just seen her cat two minutes earlier. #7: Long Time, No See = Ohisashiburi Desu ã Šä ¹â¦Ã£ â"㠶ãâŠã §Ã£ ⢠The greeting ohisashiburi desu ã Šä ¹â¦Ã£ â"㠶ãâŠã §Ã£ ⢠is best translated as "Long time, no see!" It can also be translated as "Itââ¬â¢s been a while." This is the phrase you use when you havenââ¬â¢t seen somebody in a long time; you cannot use it when meeting someone for the first time. There are different ways to say this phrase depending on the level of formality you want to use. Ohisashiburi desu is the formal version. However, you can shorten this to hisashiburi ä ¹â¦Ã£ â"㠶ãâÅ if the situation is casual (e.g., youââ¬â¢re speaking with a friend or family member). Pronunciation Ohisashiburi desu is pronounced oh-hee-sah-shee-boo-ree-dess. Note that the final "u" in desu is very soft- so much so that you can basically drop it altogether. Remember that the Japanese "r" sound is not like the English "r" and is actually more closely related to the "d" sound in the word "ladder" (in short, it's a mix between a "d," "r," and "l" sound). Usage Many people add the suffix ne ã to the end of this greeting; this is similar to asking for a sign of agreement (like the English "you know?" or "isnââ¬â¢t it?"). You could say ohisashiburi desu ne ã Šä ¹â¦Ã£ â"㠶ãâŠã §Ã£ â¢Ã£ (formal) or hisashiburi ne ä ¹â¦Ã£ â"㠶ãâŠã (casual). #8: Goodbye = SayÃ
nara ã â¢Ã£âËã â 㠪ãââ° or Shitsureishimasu Ã¥ ¤ ±Ã§ ¤ ¼Ã£ â"㠾ã ⢠Youââ¬â¢ve likely heard the first of these two phrases, but did you know that itââ¬â¢s not always appropriate to use sayÃ
nara ã â¢Ã£âËã â 㠪ãââ°- even when you mean to say goodbye? In truth, sayÃ
nara implies that youââ¬â¢ll be leaving for a long time or wonââ¬â¢t be seeing whomever youââ¬â¢re saying goodbye to for a while (or even ever again). You can think of it as being similar to the English word farewell in that it's somewhat dramatic and theatrical. As a result, itââ¬â¢s not actually used all that often in everyday Japanese conversation. By contrast, shitsureishimasu Ã¥ ¤ ±Ã§ ¤ ¼Ã£ â"㠾ã ⢠is a more formal (and common) way of saying goodbye. Itââ¬â¢s often used in places such as schools, workplaces, hospitals, etc. There is no implication here that you wonââ¬â¢t be seeing the person again for a long time. This phrase literally translates to "I am going to be rude" or "Excuse me for being rude." Pronunciation SayÃ
nara is pronounced sah-yoh-nah-rah. Once again, do not pronounce the "r" as you would an English "r" but rather as you do the "d" sound in the word "ladder." Be sure to also stress the "o" sound, as this is elongated. Shitsureishimasu is pronounced sheet-soo-ray-shee-moss. As mentioned above, do not pronounce the "r" sound as you would an English "r." You can also drop the final "u" sound, as this is very soft (so it sounds more like "moss," not "moss-oo"). Usage What exactly is the difference between sayÃ
nara and shitsureishimasu? Hereââ¬â¢s an example: youââ¬â¢ve just finished work and are preparing to say goodbye to your coworkers. If you say shitsureishimasu, this means that youââ¬â¢re going now (and will see them tomorrow). On the other hand, if you say sayÃ
nara, your coworkers would most likely become worried, possibly thinking that youââ¬â¢ve been fired or are planning to leave work permanently! Shitsureishimasu can also mean "Excuse me" or "Excuse me for bothering you" when entering a teacher or bossââ¬â¢s office. In this sense, itââ¬â¢s both a greeting and a parting phrase. When leaving to go home from work early, it's customary to say osakini shitsureishimasu ã Šåâ¦Ëã «Ã¥ ¤ ±Ã§ ¤ ¼Ã£ â"㠾ã ⢠("Excuse me for leaving early/first"). The osakini indicates that you are excusing yourself for leaving before your coworkers and/or superiors do. "See you, everyone," whimpered Kermit as the cat finally put his paw down. #9: See You = Jaa Ne ã ËãâÆ'ã âã or Mata Ne 㠾ã Ÿã These are the two phrases to use when saying goodbye in casual situations- not sayÃ
nara (which is somewhat dramatic) or shitsureishimasu (which is quite formal). Both jaa ne ã ËãâÆ'ã âã and mata ne 㠾ã Ÿã mean something along the lines of "See you later!" or "See you!" You may also add the jaa part to mata ne by saying jaa mata ne ã ËãâÆ'ã â㠾ã Ÿã or just jaa mata ã ËãâÆ'ã â㠾ã Ÿ (jaa means "well" or "then"). Pronunciation Both of these phrases are easy to pronounce. Jaa ne is pronounced jah-neh (the two a's mean you should hold out the "ah" sound a little bit). Mata ne is pronounced mah-tah-neh, with the stress on the "mah" syllable. Here's a helpful video that explains the differences between various ways of saying goodbye in the Japanese language: Usage Donââ¬â¢t use these parting phrases in formal situations, such as at work or when speaking to a teacher at school. There are a few variations of these phrases. Others include mata ashita 㠾ã ŸæËŽæâ" ¥ (see you tomorrow) and dewa mata ne 㠧㠯㠾ã Ÿã (dewa is the formal form of jaa). #10: Welcome = Irasshaimase ã âãââ°Ã£ £Ã£ â"ãâÆ'ã â㠾ã ⺠Irasshaimase ã âãââ°Ã£ £Ã£ â"ãâÆ'ã â㠾ã ⺠is a highly common word youââ¬â¢ll hear in Japan, though you yourself probably wonââ¬â¢t use it all that much, if at all. The word means "Welcome!" and is primarily used by shopkeepers, restaurant workers, and others to greet customers who enter the shop/store, restaurant, or other business. Pronunciation Irasshaimase is a pretty fun word to say, especially if you want to accurately mimic shopkeepers. It is pronounced ee-rah-shy-moss-eh, with a slight pause between the "rah" and "shy" sounds. Don't forget that the Japanese "r" sounds like a combination of the English "r," "l," and "d" sounds. Usage Although you most likely wonââ¬â¢t need to say this word aloud, itââ¬â¢s important to understand what it means so that you can know why people are yelling it at you when you enter a store! Thereââ¬â¢s no need to respond to this greeting. However, it doesnââ¬â¢t hurt to offer a polite nod and a smile, especially if the person saying it is looking at you or in your direction. You might occasionally hear the shortened version of this word, irasshai ã âãââ°Ã£ £Ã£ â"ãâÆ'ã â. Mastering Japanese greetings takes time- but luckily not as long as mastering calligraphy does. How to Use Japanese Greetings: 2 Essential Tips Weââ¬â¢ve gone over quite a few common greetings, from how to say good morning in Japanese to how to welcome customers to a shop or restaurant in Japanese. Now, we'll look at two essential tips to help you use all of these Japanese greetings correctly. Tip 1: Bow When Appropriate Not every situation requires a 90 degree bow, but itââ¬â¢s important to remember to bow (or at least offer a deep head nod) when appropriate so that you don't offend anyone- especially when it comes to teachers/professors, bosses, clients, etc. For example, say you're taking a Japanese class. As you leave the classroom, it would be expected for you to say shitsureishimasu. While you donââ¬â¢t necessarily need to stop and do a full bow to your teacher, a low head nod and a smile is both polite and appropriate. Tip 2: When in Doubt, Err on Formal If youââ¬â¢re studying Japanese, youââ¬â¢ve likely heard that formality is a big deal in Japanese culture. This is generally true- and it can make using the Japanese language pretty darn confusing. If youââ¬â¢re ever doubting whether to use the formal or casual form of a phrase, just go with formal. Thereââ¬â¢s nothing wrong with being a little more polite; however, itââ¬â¢s definitely wrong (and offensive!) to be overly casual when you should be using far more deferential language with whomever you're speaking to. Ultimately, the only time you should use casual Japanese is when you're speaking with close friends and family members (although even within families, children are usually expected to use more respectful language toward older relatives). The History of the Computer Mouse
The History of the Computer Mouse It was technology visionary and inventor Douglas Engelbart (January 30, 1925à ââ¬â July 2, 2013) who revolutionized the way computers worked, turning it from a piece of specialized machinery that only a trained scientist could use to a user-friendly tool that almost anyone can work with. During his lifetime, he invented or contributed to several interactive and user-friendly devices such as the computer mouse, Windows operating system, computer videoà teleconferencing, hypermedia,à groupware,à email, theà Internetà and much more. Making Computing Less Cumbersome Most of all, though, he was known for inventing the computer mouse. Engelbart conceived of the rudimentary mouse while attending a conference on computer graphics, where he started thinking about how to improve interactive computing. In the early days of computing, users typed codes and commands to make things happen on monitors. Engelbart thought an easier way was to link the computerââ¬â¢s cursor to a device with two wheels- one horizontal and one vertical. Moving the device on a horizontal surface would allow the user to position the cursor on the screen. Engelbartââ¬â¢s collaborator on the mouse projectà Bill English built a prototype- a hand-held device carved out of wood, with a button on the top. In 1967, Engelbartââ¬â¢s company SRI filed for theà patent on the mouse, although the paperwork identified it a little differently as x,y position indicator for a display system. The patent was awarded in 1970. Computer Mice Hits the Market Before long, computers designed to work with a mouse were released. Among the first was the Xerox Alto, which went on sale in 1973. A team at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich liked the concept as well and built their own computer system with a mouse called theà Lilith computer, sold from 1978 to 1980. Perhaps thinking they were on to something, Xerox soon followed up withà theà Xerox 8010, which featured a mouse, ethernet networking and e-mail among various innovative technologies that have since become standard. à à But it wasnt untilà 1983à that the mouse started to go mainstream. It was that year that Microsoft updated the MS-DOS program Microsoft Word to make it mouse-compatible and developed the first PC-compatible mouse.à Computer manufacturers such as Apple, Atari and Commodore would all follow suit by debuting mouse compatible systems as well. à Tracking Ball and Other Advancements Like other present forms of computer technology, the mouse has evolved significantly. In 1972, English developed the ââ¬Å"track ball mouseâ⬠that allowed users to control the cursor by rotating a ball from a fixed position. One interesting enhancement is technology that enables wireless devices, a fact that makes Engelbarts recollection of an early prototype almost quaint. We turned it around so the tail came out the top. We started with it going the other direction, but the cord got tangled when you moved your arm, he said.à For an inventor who grew up on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon and had hoped his achievements would add to the collective intelligence of the world, the mouse has come a long way. It would be wonderful,â⬠he said, ââ¬Å"if I can inspire others, who are struggling to realize their dreams, to say if this country kid could do it, let me keep slogging away.

Therefore, the forensic investigators can apply the use of a computer to carry out the forensic procedures. Computer forensic is thus the utilization of the computer applications and also analysis for the discovery of any legal evidence involved in the field of forensics. The use of the computer to practice the forensic investigations enables a quick identification and capture of the potential criminal through the use of vital data in the computer (Stauffer & Bonfanti, 2006). During the forensic investigation process, some of the things that were accomplished are the process of gathering the critical details of the potential suspects. This can only be achieved when the forensic investigators are rightly granted a warrant. This warrant allows them to carry out the forensic investig ation procedures without any limits. Therefore, the investigators first must obtain a legal warrant from the authority to enable them access any form of information from individuals. Furthermore, the evidence obtained by the investigator must not be interfered with. For instance, in the computer forensic investigation, the computers must not be touched or even moved once the incidence has occurred. The investigators must further protect the data and the system and its components so as to be used for the prosecution in the court. Moreover, a continued chain of custody is maintained. Eventually, during the retrieval of the data of the suspects, the investigator ought to be extremely careful so as to avoid any distortion of data contained in the computer. Consequently, the evidence collected by the forensic investigator ought to meet some set requirements. These includes that the evidence ought to be produced then also be professionally authenticated and furthermore be of the best evid ence available (Stauffer & Bonfanti, 2006). There are numerous types of systems that are employed during the examination procedures of the forensic investigation. The evidence gathered by the investigator varies widely. Some of these evidences are obtained from the computer includes theft of the intellectual property; there is also theft of the trade secrets. For instance, the investigators can employ the manual form of collecting forensic evidence or they can employ the computer technology method in the collection of the forensic evidences. The computer method used in the collecting evidences of any form of crime is the latest developed procedure. This technique is quick and also among the most effective procedure to be utilized. The forensic investigators utilize the computer forensic to gather any forensic evidences to be utilized in court.
